In May, Catherine and Tim Caban were joined by Breeauna Sagdal, senior Writer and Policy Research Fellow for the Beef Initiative’s IATS Foundation. Dedicated to championing local food supply chains, the foundation’s policy focus centers on private property rights, the rights of the individual, and limited government.
In a November 2024 issue brief written as a set of policy recommendations for the Trump Administration, Sagdal and co-authors warned that “America stands at a critical tipping point,” noting that recent federal initiatives, advanced under the banner of “resilience” and “equity,” have centralized control over many aspects of American life—from local governance to private property rights.
The May briefing explored how programs like the Justice40 Initiative, the Federal Plan for Equitable Long-Term Recovery and Resilience, and various executive orders have quietly shifted authority away from local communities and private citizens, using grant conditions and administrative mandates to enforce ideological compliance aligned with global governance goals.
The discussion covered the following key points:
- The immediate risks these federal programs pose to American farmers, landowners, and local governments
- How contract law has been used to bypass the 10th Amendment and what may be required to preserve life, liberty, and property in the near future
- The interconnected policies impacting land use, water rights, food systems, disaster recovery, elections, and personal freedoms
- Why urgent engagement at every level is critical
