Across the world, governments are accelerating the rollout of digital ID systems that will link identity, payments, and access to everyday life. We saw in the news this week that the United Kingdom is moving quickly toward digital identification being mandatory for its citizens. Once a digital ID is connected to your money—creating programmable money—every transaction can be centrally tracked, limited, or even denied. This represents an active attack on our freedom to transact privately, and it’s up to all of us to stop it.
One way to stop digital IDs is by using cash. Solari will soon be launching a 60-day cash challenge. Each time you use cash, you are engaging in high-impact pushback against the attempts to corral us into an all-digital system.
This October, if you participate in Halloween, we ask that you check out our “Cash is King” Halloween initiative. For the past two years, inspired by subscriber Susan Luschas’s example, we have promoted Susan’s idea of creating a “Cash Is King” Halloween. Instead of poisoning trick-or-treaters with candy, Susan hands out dollar bills, placing “Cash Is King: Why Pay with Cash?” stickers on each bill. This has made her house one of the neighborhood’s most popular Halloween destinations, prompting the eager trick-or-treaters to run home and tell their parents about the merits of paying with cash. You can download the stickers on our website HERE.
Digital IDs and programmable money are not in the distant future—these systems are being built right now. The time to push back is now, with one simple act: use cash.
In freedom,
