Greetings,
The sad events of the last week have made one thing clear - in a time of disaster having cash or checks on hand is imperative if one intends to transact.
Last year Senator Frank Niceley and Representative Bud Hulsey introduced a bill in Tennessee that would have required a business that had 6 or more employees and operated in person to accept cash. Unfortunately that bill died in Banking & Consumer Affairs Subcommittee. If you're interested in listening to the subcommittee's discussion on that bill you can do so here.
Massachusetts, Colorado, and Connecticut have all successfully addressed the requirement to accept cash and we're hoping that Tennessee will be next on the list this coming session.
Reaching out to your legislators about the importance of protecting cash would be a great help in ensuring that this bill gets through next session. If you'd like to talk to your legislators about this, but aren't sure where to start, this is a great resource.
In freedom,
The Solari Team
