It’s Time for State Guardrails.
As distributed ledger technology moves deeper into our financial system, from stablecoins and digital assets to bank deposits and brokerage accounts, the need to establish meaningful guardrails is becoming increasingly urgent. During this briefing, we’ll introduce and walk through the latest versions of our model legislation:
- The CLEAR Act (Consumer Ledger and Electronic Assets Act)
- The CLEAR Act Expanded
Attorneys David Leichty and Carolyn Betts will co-present the updated legislation, explain the key provisions, and discuss how states can begin putting protections in place before programmable financial infrastructure becomes further embedded in our financial system.
We’re also pleased to welcome Tennessee State Representative Bud Hulsey as our special guest. Rep. Hulsey sponsored our programmable money legislation in Tennessee during the last legislative session and will join us to discuss the importance of addressing these issues at the state level.
Catherine Austin Fitts will also join us for an important discussion about stablecoins, including why the rapid adoption of stablecoins and distributed ledger technology could potentially pose an even greater threat to financial freedom than central bank digital currencies (CBDCs).
